Creative Week 2019

tA big ‘thank you’ to the Art Champions at Barry island Primary School for organising and presenting their exciting photography competition to the rest of the school.

The challenge is to take a photograph showing an example of Framing, Leading Lines or Rule of Thirds. They have made a film which explains more and can be found by going to BipsTv on the school website.

The Art Champions are looking forward to looking at the photographs taken by the children, teachers and parents and awarding some certificates.

Photographs need to be in school by Wednesday 5th June.

This week the Art Champions also visited each class and gave information about what will be happening in Creative Week 2019.

Another very busy week across our wonderful school! Here are some snippets …

The children have worked incredibly hard at their National Tests this week and the teaching team are so proud of their determination and effort. Please remember to make every effort to ensure your child attends school again next week for completion of the National Tests (see Diary Dates for details).

Dosbarth Mesen held their WOW day this week, in preparation for our Creative Week learning journey. Their country focus was India and they spent the day immersed in a rich variety of activities linked to the Indian culture. They were dressed in traditional Indian costume, used green screen technology to visit the Taj Mahal, made Indian elephants and even tasted some traditional Indian cuisine!

Year 4 & Year 5 are busy working on their Eureka Robotics projects, working with Cardiff met University to research the technology of robotics and design their own robot specification to be used as a concierge at Cardiff Museum!

The week commencing 20thMay is our ‘Creative Week’. Just a reminder that we would be very grateful for any kind donations of unwanted ‘creative materials’ which could support the project eg, paper plates, pasta tubes, etc.

A reminder about the PTA’s exciting ‘Harry Potter Experience’ family event 15thMay 3:15pm. The children can dress up as their favourite character. There is a small charge for some of the games and refreshments, but also loads of free activities! Please see the Notice Board for full details. Diolch.
